THE VIRGIN'S LAMENTS - SEEING THROUGH THE NOISE [FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY]

Stories | Miami, Florida, USA | August 9th, 2022

Art serves as a timeless narrative, encapsulating the essence of different eras. For a journey through time, one need only gaze upon the art of a specific period. In our current epoch, the prevailing theme centers around emotional well-being or its absence. “The Virgin’s Laments” delves into internal dialogues, building on the themes explored in my prior work,“Corpus Operis”, drawing inspiration from Leonardo Da Vinci’s iconic masterpiece “The Last Supper”.

The sudden onset of the recent pandemic confined many of us indoors, compelling a face-to-face encounter with unresolved aspects of our lives. Stripped of distractions, we had to devise creative coping mechanisms. Witnessing the internal struggles of both acquaintances and strangers, the emotional turmoil was vividly reflected on social media.

In this era, how did the average modern-day person navigate life, particularly in a city like Miami, known for its glossy blend of excitement and superficial encounters? The forced disconnection from distractions prompted a collective realization of participation in a rat race, leaving individuals grappling with internal chaos.

As I contemplated this piece, the imagery of “The Last Supper” emerged as an unexpected muse, akin to Jesus’ calm demeanor amid the disciples’ frantic reactions to impending betrayal and crucifixion. Though the connection remains unclear, my aspiration was for the final creation to evoke intensity and relatability.

Hey, thanks for looking.
