I usually zero in on something or things I find interesting about people which develops my interest in photographing them. It can be something simple as a look, their eyes, their smile, or even their energy. That is how I have always gone about finding people to photograph. However, and very often, what I see is not what they see – how could they? This is where I think my work gets interesting. When I met Carolina at a random event, all I could see were her eyes because she was wearing a mask. They were gentle, kind, and daunting at times. And that was enough for me.
